TCR Engineering in Mumbai conducted a two day intensive training course titled " Vacuum Infusion Processing & Fracture Toughness of Polymer Matrix Composites" on March 4-5, 2014

About the Course

High performance void free polymer matrix composites with consistent wall thickness, optimum resin to reinforcement ratio, minimum part shrinkage and distortion can be produced by vacuum infusion process.
This process is an improvement in the hand lay-up process and Vacuum Bagging processes that result in resin rich composites of variable performance.
Vacuum Infusion processing is based on the principle of vacuum bagging unlike the limited  pot life in Vacuum Bagging, the Vacuum Infusion offers unlimited set up time.
Here Vacuum Bag is used to suck excess resin from the laminate, that results in less wasted resin, thus it is a cost effective process. Parts constructed by VIP almost achieve pre-preg level of resin content.
The Vacuum Infusion currently being used for  manufacturing parts where high specific strength and stiffness, better interior finish, faster cycle time at lower cost is required.
During construction of PMCs, innumerable sites for initiation of defects such as voids, delamination etc. are produced.
Non destructive evaluation of composite damages are estimated with the help of NDT methods like ultrasonic “C” scan , X-ray radiography etc. because they effect the mechanical properties of material.
The life expectancy of composite structure requires a clear understanding of the material’s response to the growth of interlaminar and translaminar delamination. Hence fracture toughness determination plays a crucial role for application of composites in high end products such as wind turbine blades.

TCR Arabia offers Thermography Services in Saudi Arabia

TCR Arabia based in Dammam, have experienced certified Level II Thermographer, FLIR equipment and they give detailed reports along with images.

Here is some brief information about Thermography; it is basically the science of taking picture of heat. It gives us an overall temperature profile of the subject rather than the temperature at one point. These variations in temperature often reveal some sort of abnormal operation. Temperature abnormalities are often caused by defective of failing component and it can assess the severity and prioritize the critical from none critical.

One of the best applications of this technology is on Electrical inspection (for Predictive Maintenance). With Thermography we can easily locate hotspot (over heating), especially on electrical system which can produce catastrophic hazard such as “fire”, besides preventing interruption to production due to electrical system failure. And it can improve profitability (by eliminating “hotspot” or resistance to prevent system lost), reliability (the probability that an item can perform its intended function without failures for a specified period under stated conditions) and safety (which prevent lost of human life) using this technology on the electrical distribution systems.
